Ram Nagar Wildlife Sanctuary – Introduction
Situated very close to Jammu city, Ramnagar Wildlife Sanctuary attracts visitors from various locations of the world. The sanctuary is just 6-km away from, Jammu city. The sanctuary spreads over an area of 31.50 Sq. Km. Ramnagar Wildlife Sanctuary is a perfect example of a finely balance ecosystem that serves as a safe haven to some of the rarest of the rare species of plants and animals. One can fiind different species of mammals such as Barking Deer, Nilgai Rhesus Monkey and Wild Boar. Nilgai and Barking Deer are the main attraction of the place. People come to see these animals from different parts of the country as well as from abroad. The sanctuary is also home to some rare varieties of birds.

Various mammals such as Barking Deer, Nilgai Rhesus Monkey and Wild Boar can be found in the sanctuary. One can also find 15 other varieties of birds such as Blue Rock Pigeon, Golden Oriole, Indian Mynah, Jungle Crow, Peafowl, Red Jungle Fowl and White Cheeked Bulbul. Apart from this visitors can also witness some rare species of plants and herbs found only in the Himalayan region.
