Pabitora Wildlife Sanctuary

Pabitora Wildlife Sanctuary - Introduction
In 1971, the Pabotira Wildlife Sanctuary acquired the status of forest reserve. It is a major habitat to a number of rhinos. The Pabotira Wildlife Sanctuary has a flat land joined with a gentle elevation in the direction of east to west, excluding the region of Burha-Mayong hillock. This wildlife sanctuary is quite accessible to other parts of Assam and rest of India. This wildlife sanctuary got a charm with various categories of deer, apart from its steady count of Rhinos. The wet land of the Pabitora Wildlife Sanctuary also supports Ferruginous Duck.

This wildlife sanctuary supports a lot variety of flora and fauna. The main attraction of the wildlife sanctuary is the one horned rhinos. Apart from the Rhinos you can find other animals that include the deer, elephant, capped langur, buffalo, tiger, river dolphin, elephant, leopard, leopard cat, Asiatic buffalo, wild bear, civet cat to name only a few. Among the bird family you can see pigeon, swamp francolin and migratory birds like goose, pelican, black stork and the ferruginous duck. This sanctuary is a home to more than 2000 migratory birds and various reptiles.
