The Orang National Park is one of the fascinating national parks in India with a high density of tiger population. It is located on the north bank of the Brahmaputra river in Assam. This national park extends to an area of 78.81 sq. km. It was established as a sanctuary in 1985 and on 13th of April, 1999, this sanctuary was declared as a National Park. The nearest town to the Orang National Park is Tezpur, lying at a distance of 32 km from the Orang National Park. The state capital, Guwahati is at a distance of 140 km from the Orang National Park. The scenic beauty of the national park snatches the attention of every nature loving tourists.
Wildlife in Orang National Park
The Orang National Park in India is a home to exclusive variety of flora and fauna. It is the habitat to a large population of tiger. The other animals in the park include the one horned Rhino, Bengal Florican, Dolphin, Indian Pangolin, Rhesus Macaque, Bengal Porcupine, Indian Fox, Otter, Leopard cat, Fishing cat, Anatidae, Accipitridae, Addenda, and the Ardeiae. It is home to many species of birds too. Some of them are namely Pelican, Black-necked Stork, Lesser Adjutant, Wooly-necked Stork, Mallard, Pintail and a number of others including forest and grassland birds.
