Nameri National Park
The Nameri National Park is one of the important national parks in India, located in Assam. This national park is located to the foothills of Eastern Himalayas. The Nameri National Park extends to an area of 200 sq. km. This park is situated in the eastern border of Assam. It is a home to different species of plants, animals and birds. The Nameri National Park is situated in Assam. It is located to a distance of 181 km from Guwahati and to a distance of 35 km from Tezpur town. In fact, Tezpur is the nearest town to the Nameri National Park. To be very exact, the Nameri National Park extends to an area of 213 sq. km. The eco-system of this place supports to many lives of endangered species. It has been a tourists’ paradise for the nature lovers, since years back.
Wildlife in Nameri National Park
You can witness a wide range of varieties of flora and fauna in Nameri National Park. Some of the endangered species of animals too reside here. They are namely the white winged wood duct, Sloth Bear, Sambar, Gaur, Indian Wild Dog, Tiger Leopard, Clouded Leopard, varieties of Hornbill and many other winged species. The other fauna include Assamese Macaque, Capped Langur, Bengal Fox, Civet Cat, Mouse Deer, Tiger, Leopard, Jungle Cat, Wild Boar, Indian Porcupine, Indian Pangolin, and Flying Squirrel. The Nameri National Park has also plants collections that include Bombax ceiba, Dalbergia sisoo, Zizypphus jujuba, Litsaea polyantha, etc.
