Milray Sanctuary - Introduction
The Milray Sanctuary is located in the Lakhimpur district of Assam. It lies close to the border of Arunachal Pradesh. The Milray Sanctuary was established to protect a large population of wild water buffaloes. This Sanctuary is a good place to view some birds and some lesser fauna. The Milray Wildlife Sanctuary is very small and it extends to an area of 49 sq. km only. Some of the birds that can be seen in this park are Fishing Eagle, and Jerdon's Baza. The Milray Wildlife Sanctuary is the ideal place to view and enjoy the extremely rare Asiatic water buffalo. Apart from the wild buffaloes, it is a home to many other wild varieties of flora and fauna. It includes Sloth Bear, Sambar, Gaur, Indian Wild Dog, Assamese Macaque, Capped Langur, Bengal Fox, Civet Cat, Mouse Deer, Wild Boar, Indian Porcupine, Indian Pangolin, and Flying Squirrel.
