Established in the year 1967, It was declared as a tiger reserve in the year 1974. Situated in the Amravati district of Maharastra, the Melghat Tiger Reserve is one of the most beautiful wildlife sanctuaries in India. Wildlife in Melghat Tiger Reserve
The commonly found flora in Melghat Tiger Reserve is dominantly the tropical dry deciduous forest. The major flora found in Melghat Tiger Reserve includes Bamboo, Bel, Bija, Salaia, Auriculata, Palas, Hiwar Tendu, Khair, Zizphus Helicteres, Dhawda, Casia, Sal, Babul, Teak, Terminenalia species, etc. The commonly found shrubs include varieties of Isora, Solanium Giganteum, Lantna etc.
The fauna in Melghat Tiger Reserve is also quite remarkable. The major attraction is the tiger. The most commonly found species include Jungle Fowl, Sloth Bear, Wildbore, Samber, Hyaena, Four-horned antelope, Crocodile, Wild Dog, Barking deer, Leopard, Chinkara, Wild Boar, Blue Bull, Bear, etc.
