Keoladeo National Park

The Keoladeo National Park is popularly known as Keoladeo Ghana National Park. Prior to it this beautiful national park is popularly known as the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary. It is located in Rajasthan. During the winters, thousands of rare and highly endangered birds like Siberian Crane come to this place. This national park was declared as a protected sanctuary in 1971. It is also a declared World Heritage Site.

Keoladeo National Park-Introduction
The Keoladeo National Park is a world Heritage Site. Located in Rajasthan, it provides habitat to many species of flora and fauna. It covers an area of 232 sq. km or 2873 hectares. A vast part that that approximately figures to two-thirds of the park lies under water. The remaining one-third of the park is covered with dry deciduous forest that includes Acacia, Ber, Kadam, Khajur trees and extensive grasslands. This national park offers a spectacular sight during the monsoon.The Keoladeo National Park is a dwelling place to a large population of the rare Siberian Cranes and other bird families that includes gulls, northern shovelers, tufted ducks and common pochard.

Wildlife in Keoladeo National Park
Keoladeo is one of the famous Asia’s birding areas, with over 380 residents and migrant species of birds can be seen at a time. The common bird that can be seen in the park includes Demoiselle and the rare Siberian Cranes. Also, it is a habitat to fauna like jackal, striped hyena, fishing cat, nilgai, sambar, bear and blackbuck. In the winters, you may also come across large pythons sunning themselves. All this are the major attractions of the Keoladeo National Park.

Best time to visit: The best time to visit the Keoladeo National Park is between the months of August to March.

How to reach there:

By Road: The excellent roadways ensure nice connectivity of the place to the rest parts of Rajasthan. It is 56 Km from Agra and 176 km from Delhi.

By Train: The nearest railway station is at Bharatpur.

By Air: The nearest airport to the national park is the Agra airport.
