Gundla Brahmeswara Wildlife Sanctuary: Introduction
The Gundla Brahmeswara Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Andhra Pradesh, India at about 30 km away from Nandyal, which lies on the border area between Kurnool and Prakasam districts. The wildlife sanctuary got its name from the Gundla Brahmeshwaram plateau, where it is situated, of the Nallamallai hill range. The Gundla Brahmeswara Sanctuary spreads over an area of over 1194 sq km and is covered by mixed deciduous forests. The perennial river Gundlakamma, which crosses through the sanctuary, is the life-line of the wildlife sanctuary as it presents a varied habitat for wild life.

The Gundla Brahmeswara Wildlife Sanctuary is marked by dense forests, abundant flora and fauna and picturesque spots. This wildlife sanctuary holds deciduous forests of Teak, Prerocarpuss, Terminalia, Albizzia, Anogeissius, Dalbergia, Boswelia, Shisham, Andug and Bamboo. The Gundla Brahmeswara Wildlife Sanctuary is also a natural habitat supporting ample bird and animal life. The dense foliage of the Gundla Brahmeswara Wildlife Sanctuary holds varied animals, birds, and reptiles including tiger, panther, sloth bear, wild dog, hyena, jungle cat, langur, bonnet monkey, pangolin, sambar, nilgai, chowsinga, chinkara, mouse deer, monitor lizard, python and marsh crocodile; some of these species are even considered endangered animals. However, the main attractions of the Gundla Brahmeswara Wildlife Sanctuary are Mouse deer and Langur and you may also catch a glimpse of the elusive Cheetah in its natural habitat.

Climate : The climate of the Gundla Brahmeswara Wildlife Sanctuary region is usually hot round the year with most of the precipitation occuring during the monsoon. Maximum temperatures in summer soars in the range of 40-45° Celsius while winters in the Gundla Brahmeswara Wildlife Sanctuary are usually mild.
Best time to visit : The period between October to May is considered the best time to visit the Gundla Brahmeswara Wildlife Sanctuary.

By Road : It is well connected by road from the town from Kurnool, which is only 100 kms away from the sanctuary.
By Rail : The nearest railway station is Nandyal Railway Station; merely at a distance of 30 kms away from the Gundla Brahmeswara Wildlife Sanctuary.
