Out of the nineteen biodiversity hotspots in the world, the Dibru Saikhowa National Park is one of them. The semi wet evergreen forests, moist deciduous forest, brakes and grasslands makes the national park possible to hold diverse biotic communities. The Dibru Saikhowa National Park is located in the flood plains of Brahmaputra. It stands to a height of about 118 m above the sea level. This national park is a home to many endangered species of wild life in the earth. You can see colourful migratory birds in the Dibru Saikhowa National Park. It also holds a collection of various species of shrubs, herbs and rare medicinal plants.

Dibru Saikhowa National Park - Introduction
Dibru Saikhowa National park is the largest national park of Assam. It engulfs a huge land area of 650 sq. km. This national park is situated to the north of Tinsukia town, more precisely at a distance of 13 km from Tinsukia town. This national park is 515 kms from Guwahati, the state capital of Assam. The Dibru Saikhowa National Park is bounded by the Brahmaputra River and Arunachal hills from the north and Dibru and Patkai hills to the south. In 1986, the Dibru Saikhowa National Park was declared a wildlife Sanctuary by the government of Assam and later in 1999 it was elevated to the National Park.

The Dibru Saikhowa National Park is the natural habitat of whitewinged wood duck and coloured wild horses. Other wildlife in the sanctuary includes Hoolock gibbon, capped langur, buffalo, tiger, river dolphin, elephant, leopard, leopard cat, Bengal Florican etc. This national park is a home to many species of birds. It includes spot billed pelican, pallah's fishing eagle, pigeon, swamp francolin and migratory birds like goose, brahmini duck, pelican, black stork etc.
