The famous Dandeli Kali wildlife sanctuary is located on the beautiful banks of the river Kali, surrounded by thick forests and hills of Uttara Kannada District. The wildlife sanctuary is at a distance of 125 kilometers from Goa, 117 kilometers from Karwar, 95 kilometers from Belgaum and at 400 kilometers from Bangalore. Dandeli Kali wild life sanctuary is blessed with the nature’s best collection of flora and fauna. Dandeli Kali Wildlife Sanctuary primarily has got moist deciduous and semi-evergreen trees, with a lot of evergreen trees in pockets. The commonly found plantation here are Bamboo and Teak. There are a variety of natural forest tree species, which include Adina cordifolia, Dalbergia Latifolia, Pterocarpus marsupium, T. tomentosa, Terminalia Paniculata, Grewia tiliaefolia, T. bellerica, Logerstroemia Isnceolata, Xylia xylocarpa, Cordia macleodic, Mitragyna parviflora, Kydia clycina and Vitex altissima.
Dandeli Kali wildlife sanctuary is famous for its fauna. The prominent mammals in the Dandeli Kali wildlife sanctuary include slender common langur, loris, gaur, sloth bear, elephant, mouse deer, wild pig, tiger, sambar, Malabar giant squirrel, leopard (black panther), wild dog, jackal, bonnet macaque, spotted deer, giant flying squirrel and mongoose. The most famous species in the sanctuary are Indian Cuckoo, Blue Headed Ground Thrush, Pied Hornbill, Crested Serpent Eagle, Magpie Robin, Golden Back Woodpecker, and Malabar Grey Hornbill.

By Water : The nearest big station by road is Dharwar at a distance of 50 kilometers. However, the best way to reach Dandeli by road is to travel from Karwar, which is at a distance of 120 kilometers.
