Situated just 100 kilometers from Cuttak, it is a place to visit to get the view of the marine and wild simultaneously. The real beauty of this sanctuary is its population of crocodiles.
Bhitarkanika Sanctuary – Introduction
Situated near the estuarine region of Brahmani- Baitarani coastline of Orissa, the Bhitarkanika Sanctuary is a picturesque place to visit for the nature lovers. The wildlife lovers spend the best time of their life here. It covers an area of just 145 square kilometers, still has a great variety of wildlife. The Bhitarkanika Sanctuary is a salt tolerant, highly complex and dynamic ecosystem occurring in the tropical and sub-tropical inter-tidal regions. Giant salt water crocodiles and a variety of many other wildlife find this place as their natural habitat.

The fauna in Bhitarkanika Sanctuary is also quite remarkable. The most famous species found here is the deer, celebrated for their curved antlers. The most commonly found species include Leopard, Samber, Sloth Bear, Wildbore, Four-horned antelope, Jungle Fowl, Barking deer, Wild Dog, Wild Boar, Chinkara, Blue Bull, Hyaena, Bear, Crocodile, etc.
