When it comes to pure majesty, sheer strength, and sublime supremacy, only one name appears in the mind – the royal Bengal tiger. The quick, fearless, king of kings, the Bengal tiger is the most awesome animal in the world. It is in fact the second largest tiger species found in the world. The most well-known habitat of the Bengal tiger is the Sunderbans. They grow mostly in wetlands, deciduous forests, and mangroves. It is the Natiuonal animal of India and Bangladesh. NO other animal in the world has the pride of being the national animal of two countries. The roar of a Bengal tiger can be heard form a distance of three kilometers.

Characteristics : The Bengal tigers measure from 2.75 meters to 3.60 meters in length measured from head to tail. The tail can be up to one meter long. Their weight can grow up to 400 kilograms. The fur of the Bengal tigers is generally orange-brown with black stripes. A number of tigers are white as well. Some variation of Bengal tigers called the Golden Tabby has a white coat with golden scrap and streaks that are much paler than normal.

Habitat : The Bengal tiger grow well in wet lands. The most favorable place for the Bengal tigers is the mangrove forest on the Bay of Bengal. However, they are also found in other parts of India and some parts of Nepal and Burma. The Bengal tigers need large area as hunting ground as they don’t like to share their area with other tigers, a sign of majestic nature of the Bengal tigers. The lack of hunting ground can be a serious problem for the well being of this great animal.

Food : The tigers are carnivores. The Bengal tigers love to eat deer, gaur, buffalo, goats and many other grassing animals. They are not natural man-eaters. However, due to old age, or some other reasons, they become man-eaters. The hunting skill of the Bengal tiger is legendary. They can be very cunning and shrewd with their movement. They can move almost silently and prey the poor animal trying hard to survive. The Bengal tiger are reportedly capable of swimming across river to attack the prey. It can eat up to 30 kilograms of meat in a single night.

Breeding : The natural breeding time of the Bengal tigers is usually the spring season. The kids remain with the mother for 2-3 years. After that they become capable of hunting alone.

Major Destination of Bengal Tigers
Although the most famous destination of the Bengal tigers is the Sunderban in Bengal, there are some other destinations also.
The major destinations of the Bengal tiger include:

Ranthambhore National Park : Spread over an area of 1,334 square kilometers on the eastern edge of the Thar Desert of Rajasthan, it is one of the biggest reserves of the Royal Bengal Tiger. It is a part of Project Tiger, one of Asia's most important conservation efforts.

Corbett National Park : Corbett National Park, the first to be designated a Project Tiger Reserve, certainly claims to be a preferred destination of the Bengal tigers. Situated in Uttaranchal, it has the right environment for the Bengal tigers and happily habitats a great number of them.

Bandhavgarh National Park : Located in Sahdol, Madhya Pradesh, this forest lies among the Vindhya hills. It was declared a tiger reserve under Project Tiger in 1993 only to grow today as one of the most populated tiger reserves of India. Bengal Tiger

Kanha National Park : It is one of the most famous tiger reserves worldwide, located among the Banjar and Halon valleys in Madhya Pradesh.

Sundarbans National Park : The magnificent mangrove forest in the Bay of Bengal is certainly the home of the Bengal tigers. The majestic king of the jungle finds itself at the very best in the Sunderban National Park. In fact, it is the beautiful valley of Sunderban which has made the Bengal tiger world famous as the Royal Bengal Tiger.
