Barnawapara Wildlife Sanctuary – Introduction
Barnawapara Wildlife Sanctuary is established in the year 1976 under the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972, India. The sanctuary is located in the northern part of Mahasamund district of the state. The Sanctuary is famous to become one of the finest and the most vital wildlife sanctuaries in the entire country. It covers an area of about 245 sq km. The sanctuary is located on a flat and hilly area with altitudes ranging from 265 to 400 meters.

Wildlife in Barnawapara Wildlife Sanctuary is comprised of unique wildlife and lush green vegetations. Various rarest of rare animals found in the sanctuary are Chital, Gaur, Leopard, Nilgai, Sambar, Sloth bear, Tiger and Wild boar. Apart from this various other species residing in the sanctuary include; Antelopes, Barking Deer, Chinkara, Chinkara, Cobra, Jungle Cat, Lesser Kestrels, Monkey, Muntjac and Porcupineetc.
