Jagdish Temple is a very prominent temple whose precincts are touched by bounteous devotees throughout the year. We should be thankful to the creative mind of Maharana Jagat Singh of Udaipur who meticulously constructed the edifice of the Jagdish Temple between the periods from 1628 to 1653. As constructing this venerated Jagdish temple was its big aim so he did not even take a step back in spending around 1.5 million on it. It is indeed a stunning success in the genre of art and architecture and is continually looked upon by the enthusiasts of art and supporters of Lord Jagannath. This tour de force is a three storeyed building with 50 pillars in first and second storeys consist of delightfully imprinted pillars, garlanded ceilings, tinted walls and thriving halls. This shikhar (spire) is unbelievably spectacular as adorned with sculptures of horsemen and musicians dancers and elephants, making it a worth seeing.
Jagdish Temple is truly a unique temple in itself as it greets you with two huge stone elephants at its doorways. At facade, you will see the stone slab that is embossed with the writings in context to Maharaja Jagat Singh and marble flight of 32 steps will give you the access of Jagdish Temple. Further, an image of Garuda made of brass will bowl you over as it is exotically made, half-man and half-eagle. The relevance of this statuette is because of the fact that it sentries the doorway of Lord Vishnu. This hallowed place of worship is delimited by four smaller shrines of Goddess Shakti, Lord Ganesha, Sun God, and Lord Shiva respectively. The grand architecture of the temple is flamboyant of its pyramidal spire, mandap (prayer hall) and a porch. The first and the second storey of the Jagdish temple own 50 pillars each and the carvings imprinted on these storeys are really intricate and enhance the aura of the temple. The temple is thoughtfully formed keeping in the view the Hindu architectural science of 'Vastushstra'.
You can be one of those blessed ones who can be called by the Lord Jagdish as early as possible to take his blessings as its lavish architecture and tranquility is inexplicable.
