History
History of this prized Mahadeva temple does not tell much apart from it being a small village which has quaint magnetism. The lord Mahadeva is one of the three members of the Holy Trinities and the other two Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu. Lord Shiva is the destroyer not the saver or creator and is prayed on a large scale by his followers not to open his third eye which is the indication of the end of the whole universe.
Description
The Mahadeva Temple in Samode is also constructed on a raised platform which is supposed to be covered by a flight of stairs that leads you to the four sided pillared hall. This hall serves the purpose of arranging live folk performances and reading of Holy Scriptures. What lure the attention of the onlookers are the lingam painstakingly accompanied by a snake and a trishul considered as traditionally adored idol.
This holy place becomes more eye-catching at the festive occasion of Shiva Ratri when bounteous women offer their prayers and seek for Lord Shiva’s openhandedness to bless their husbands with long and contented life. Here in this festival a nightlong fast empirical by both married and unmarried women. The unmarried women aspire to have committed husbands resembling Lord Shiva for his spouse goddess Parvati.
