Before we talk about yet another interesting holy place in Pushkar, we would like to highlight on the origin of Pushkar city. It is alleged that once gods freed a swan with a lotus in their beak from the heaven and the place where this swan would fall would be the only place where the revered Lord Brahma would perform a grand Yagna. So, it was Pushkar city where all this took place and got its recognitions since then. This treasured city of Pushkar is 14 km from Ajmer and has a huge relevance being one of the five 'Dhams' where Hindu devotees and other aficionados come to take the blessings.
Goddess Gayatri
While on a Pilgrimage tour to Rajasthan, it becomes mandatory for you to visit the Gayatri Temple in Pushkar that is totally committed to Goddess Gayatri who is the much loved companion of Lord Brahma. She is supposed to be an untouchable. So, in order to purify her, she was put into the cow’s mouth and taken out from the other end.
Gayatri Temple Pushkar
It is indeed a very hallowed temple built on the sanctified grounds of Pushkar city. The Gayatri Temple is remarkably situated beside the holy pond at the top of a hill. And being a disciple, it will not be taxing for you to access the temple as you can simply reach from behind the bus stand and up the hill. The doorways of the temple remains closed in the early afternoon for the midday offering and during noon time.
