Before the construction of Nehru Park took place, there used to be a pond named Bakhat Sagar pond which gradually vanished with the city's filthy water getting composed there. So, in order to overcome from this problem, the upper portion of the pond was transformed into Bakhat Sagar residential colony and the lower one was given the shape of Nehru Park.
