Teej Festival in Jaipur Rajasthan

 

The golden haired Rajasthan has a never ending list of fairs and festivals that makes it truly a grandiose state. The pink city of Jaipur, Rajasthan lures swashbucklers for one or the other reasons. But this time, it has decided to be a major crowd puller because of its grand Teej Festival that takes place on an expansive scale at the inception of the monsoons with the first drop of rain that brings the message of soothe from scorching heat of sun.

The simple and sober people of Rajasthan enjoy to no end as this Teej Festival includes three kinds of Teej which are the Haryali Teej, Hartalika Teej and the Kajri Teej. It is the fiesta that belongs to the womenfolk of the state commonly takes place sometime between July and August. It also hints the unambiguous religious undercurrent. It is a very vibrant festival where young lass along with the married ones offer their sacred prayers to respected goddess Parvati who is highly looked upon for her altruistic dedication and commitment showed for her husband Lord Shiva. Which is why, the womenfolk importune her benedictions to have a contented life with their darling husbands. As we have mentioned above that it is a colorful festival that drenches the pink city thoroughly with green color so the females attire themselves in the colors that typify fecundity. They also embellish themselves with stunning accessories and bangles that make them gorgeous and much appealing.

During this Teej Festival, the idol of Teej Mata is beautified with a great deal of embroidered clothes and ethnic knick knacks by womenfolk who also sing devotional songs in extol of sanctified goddess Parvati. Even the lawns and the gardens are also adorned with delightfully bedecked swings which are decorated with strings of spring flowers and marigold. It also underscores the aspect of procession with the statue of Teej Mata placed in the front that culminates at the ‘Kanak Vrindavan’ before moving on for the raptness rites.
