Temples in Chittorgarh Rajasthan

Historically seen, the terra firma of Chittorgarh is distinguished worldwide because of its people’s obstinacy and heroism. The district of Chittor is proudly positioned on the southern part of Rajasthan state on the banks of the Gambheri River. From 8th to 13th century it was under the supremacy of Sisodian clan of Rajputs. The town of Chittorgarh has endless fascination for tourists whose existence has some significance. For instance the Chittorgarh fort placed atop a cliff and is constantly explored by day-trippers. But, if look at the trashes of its structural designs we get to know that it highlights the happenings of its splendis past.

Out of the Chittor’s assets such as gigantic fortification, palaces and monuments, its godly temples also have a prominent share in compelling swarm bucklars to flutter around in the temples premises. These temples are the endowments given by those Rajputs soldiers of erstwhile era who had a great belief in Hinduism. A first fleeting look at these temples focus on the invincible talent of craftsmen who showed their artistic talent in making the imposing and stylish architecture of these temples. These temples have been built in Indo Aryan method and reflect the opulent Rajputana lifestyle. Rajputs have always been a great admirer of God Sun which is why, all the respective shrines are completely dedicated to God Sun. We can justify our statement by quoting an example of heavenly Kalika Mata Temple, Chittorgarh constructed in 8th century and devoted to the Sun God and later on, got converted in Kali Temple. Further, we see Mira Bai temple who was a passionate lover of Krishna. Very few know that it is believed that Meera got saved from death as Krishna himself drank the poison and as a result, his entire body turned blue.

Most of these above mentioned temples were under the rule of Alauddin Khilji. But, later, Mughal emperor Akbar took them under his custody when 16th century was at its closing stage.
