Rana Kumbha Palace Chittorgarh Rajasthan

On an excursion tour to Rajasthan, one must include a very impressing monument standing dauntlessly on the land of Chittorgarh is none than Rana Kumbha Palace which is famed for its affluent cultural heritage along with striking architecture. The terra firma of Chittorgarh including Rana Kumbha Palace speaks high about the saga of valor and glory of the Rajputs Kings and queens of that bygone era such as Rani Padmini of Chittorgarh. All this interesting romantic and heroic associations with Rana Kumbha Palace create a desire in ardent lovers of Indian history and in archaeologist to come frequently to explore the Palace.

Very few of us know that the palace was named after the supreme Sisodias. The relics of the Palace highlight tourists to have a quick look on the audaciousness and splendor of the royal Rajputs. In a crunchy description of Palace, please note that it has two entry gates to the east. The first one is called ‘Badi Pol’ whereas the second one is ‘Tripolia’. The foundation of the Palace was pioneered by Bappa Rawal, the founder of House of Mewar in 734 A.D. But, later on, Maharana Kumbha refurbished it.

While traveling around the different sections of Palace, you will see that it has legendry associations with it. For instance, Mira Bai a renowned princess of poetry also lived in the palace once. Even, a legendry figure Panna Dai is also associated with the palace as she saved an infant named Uday Singh. The Rani Kumbha Palace also housed elephants, horse stables and a Shiva temple. Some other marvelous places of tourist interests in the arena of this Chittorgarh palace include Zanana Mahal, Suraj Gokhra and Kanwar Pada Palace.

Last but not the least, the eminent Rana Kumbha Palace in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan is the only place where gorgeous Maharani Padmini committed Jauhar and that jauhar is supposed to have taken under the courtyard along with her 700 lady followers to save honor. Surprisingly, the archeologists are still pursuing the underground cellars where this discouraging act to save their honor took place.
