Rajasthan features one of its another spectacular historical places called ‘Bundi’ marvelously known for its medieval forts, huge Havelis and temples decked with stone idols along with Chattris with carved pillars. Bundi has a huge significance in the history of Rajasthan. This yet unexplored city is located 36 Km from Kota and is considered to be wealthy place of the state. It is enclosed by the Aravalli hills on the three sides and is hemmed in by a massive wall with four gateways.
When Prithvi Raj Chauhan, the last warrior of the Chauhan Dynasty was badly overpowered by Mohammad Guari then some of the Chauhan nobles started searching a shelter in Mewar whereas some other young warriors headed towards Chambal Valley and set up their own realm by the name 'Hadoti'. Afterwards, Hadas got divided into two separates states of Kota and Bundi .But, the actual name was kept after an ex- ruler ‘Bundi Meena’. Bundi has innumerable tourist attractions which amaze the bystander from head to toe. These fascinations in form of Forts and monuments relate the tourist with the proceedings of the bygone era.
One of the worth mentioning day- tripper’s spot of Bundi is Chaurasi Khambon ki Chhatri. This pavilion is supported by 84 pillars as marvelously fabricated by Rao Anirudh Singh Ji in year 1683. It serves its purpose in two ways for the adventurer and the localities. One is in the form of temple and another in the form a cenotaph. But, unluckily, its importance being a cenotaph is deteriorating day by day. Earlier, a very renowned Shiva Lingam within the Chhatri was the chief spot of tourists specifically monitored by the people who had religious fervor.
However, The Taragarh Fort is the main highlight of the tourist. Its construction was laid in 14th century and you will see ‘Bhim Burj’ in the interiors of this fort. The interiors of the fort have a huge fortification, a big gun along with a water tank fixed out on the single-handed piece of rock. The sunset vista will be something an awe-inspiring for the onlookers.
In the last, we advise you not to forget to shop from the Bazaars in Bundi and buy something to keep it as a souvenir.
