Deshnok Temple Rajasthan

In India, all the people have huge belief in God and Goddesses. They believe that God’s amazing powers can convert impossible into possible. Deshnok Temple is the true example to justify our above mentioned statement. The temple has a great reverence. It has a never ending religious significance for its devotees. The temple is dyed-in-the-wool to Deshnok Karni Mata built in 14th century, considered as a personification of Goddess Durga. The architectural design of the temple was constructed by Maharaja Ganga Singh with marbles. The domes and doors of the same are made up of gold and silver with the images of Karni Mata and various deities on these doors. The image of the Goddess is preserved in the inner sanctum.

Formerly, the village Deshnok was famous as 'Dus- nok' meaning ten corners as taking ten corners of ten villages for its formation. This small town is about 30 Km away from Bikaner by the side of the Jodhpur road and is well linked by national highway and rail. What attracts the aficionados more is the sight of several countless brown rats running in the environs of the temple? At the time of aarti, the disciples offer sweets, grains and milk to these rats. A white mouse called Kaba in a local language is looked upon as favorite of all. It is believed that Mata Dura once came in the dream of Maharaja of Bikaner and asked him to construct some holes which act as a shelter place for these rats. Moreover, there is a wire grill placed over the courtyard to put a stop to the birds of prey and other predators consuming the holy rodents.
