Bayana in Bharatpur, Rajasthan was among the major towns of Bharatpur ruled by Mughals. Bayana is more or less 45Km from Bharatpur city and 76 Km from famous Fatehpur Sikri. In the past, Bayana was also referred as Sripatha or Sriprastha.
Commencing from, we draw your attention on the history of the place. It has a famous fort by the name Bijay Garh (Vijay Garh) marvelously built by the Hindu King Banasur during the time of Lord Krishna. But, after that Maharaja Vijay Pal refurbished the fort when the two families of Karauli and Bharatpur segregated from each other. One of the brothers built the Timangarh fort having its royal house foundation of Karaulu and is considered to be the third largest fort in India.
Nonetheless, in 1526 AD Mughal Emperor Babar declared the fort as one of the most famous forts in India. It is mentioned by Ain-I-Akbari that in past times Bayana was the capital of a county of which Agra was a dependant village. Even Emperor Akbar witnessed a march past of his troops from a place near Bayana town known as “Chardare” which has the Inscription on it engraved by Mir Mohammed Masum, the noble of Mughals court.
