The parched land of Rajasthan, Alwar is festooned with striking forts and regal palaces. Some forts and palaces are the storehouses of the cultural heritage of Rajasthan where as some have been converted into heritage resorts. The foundation of Neemrana Fort was laid in 1464 AD by King Raj Dev. The architectural design of these forts will have the glimpse of the Rajput heroism and their affluent lifestyle.
There is a short story linked with the origin of Neemrana Fort. The word Neemrana is derived from the local tribal chief Nimola Meo who was badly beaten by the Chauhans in an encounter. Nimola Meo then pleaded in front of Chauhans to keep his name to his lost kingdom. Since then the Fort came into picture as 'Neemrana Fort'.
You will be highly startled after seeing the massive fort stretching its arms to 25 acres of land bestowing a grand aura to the surroundings. Being built along hillside, it gives new dimensions to its magnificent environs. The rooms of the fort are tastefully furnished with conventional as well as royal furniture, antiques and artifacts. Greater part of the rooms has spacious balcony or terrace to enjoy the superb view of the surroundings.
It is not difficult to reach Neemrana Fort. It shares its proximity from New Delhi as situated at 122 Km on the Delhi-Jaipur highway. It is only 100 Km from Delhi's international Airport.
