The town Alwar has a great significance as it showcases the ancient temples, medieval palaces and forts. Every fort, palace or a temple has its distinct features and some mythical link ups. Starting from Bala Quila, it is a huge medieval fort built in 16th century. It's accessibility from the city center is some where around 15 Km. The foundation of Bala Quila fort was laid by Nikumbha clan of Rajputs. It shows the character of the city. The other places of interest from Bala Quila are Chakradhari hanuman ji temple, Sita ram temple, Top wale hanuman ji temple and army area.
The second main attraction of Alwar is City Palace which is also called as Vinay Vilas. It is a blend of Rajput and Mighal styles of art and architecture. The City Palace has checkered central courtyard with canopied balconies.
The third main attraction is Moosi Maharani Ki Chattri in Alwar. It is located outside the City Palace. It was built in the remembrance of Maharaja Bakhtawar Singh and his queen Rani Moosi who committed sati.
Last, but not the least, is Vijay Mandir Palace beautifully built by Maharaja Jai Singh. It has beautiful lush green surroundings with 105 elegant rooms. The palace also houses Sita Ram Mandir. Make sure you have taken a permission from Maharaja of Alwar to visit Vijay Mandir Palace.
