The very well known Nasiyan Jain Temple is a 'Red Temple' built on the famous Prithvi Raj Chauhan Marg. It is a double storey building which has a hall at its second storey containing the large series of gilt wooden figures that represent the Jain mythology. It is the most frequently visited temple and its glorious architecture still remains the same as of the old golden times. The temple is truly a worth visit while on a Trip to Ajmer city.
The edifice of the Nasiyan Jain Temple started in 1864 AD and continued till 1895 AD. The temple is an honor to the first Jain Tirthankar Rishabhadeoji. Jainism has a great reverence in the city as 25% of the populace belongs to Jainis and they have their temples to worship as well. The most incredible piece of architectural creation is the first floor of the temple called Swarna Nagari, the city of gold. Around 1000 kilograms of gold is considered to be used in the making of this impressive shrine of Jain. The décor of the temple is worth mentioning as it is festooned by silver balls suspended from its ceiling and is surmounted by a vimana(Spire). The use of silver linings and precious other stones in the decoration of interiors of temple make the entire structure look larger than life.
Nasiyan Jain Temple in Ajmer can be well discovered from the months of October to March. from 8:30 A.M. in the morning till 4:30 P.M in the evening. There is an entry fee of Rupees 2 to visit the temple.
