This holy place of Jama Al Tamish is also well known as Adhai- Din-Ka- Jhompra where mostly the people from the Islamic community come and offer their prayers. The splendid mosque is frequently visited as one of the major tourist spots of Ajmer. There are different myths related to the foundation of this mosque. Some say that it used be a Saraswati temple built by Raja Visaldeva, the first Chauhan Emperor of India in 1153 A.D. But, the fresco of the mosque exhibits the Arabic inscription beautifully decorated by Sultan Shahabuddin Ghori in 595 A. H. (12th century A.D.). It has been a devout place of Islam where Hazrat Khwaja Muinuddin Chishti himself is supposed to have offered his prayers. Even in spite of all the bafflements about the origin of the mosque, it stands out as foremost tourist attraction in Ajmer.
