The City Ajmer was founded by Ajaipal Chauhan in the early seventh century. He then had built s tall fort at this very place and coined its name ‘Ajaimeru’, which means invincible hill. The Dargah: This tomb was built for the sufi saint, Khwaja Muin-uddin Chisti. He had come to Ajmer from Persia in 1192. The tomb is constructed of white marble. It has 11 arches and a Persian inscription which runs in a full length of the building. You can also find a marble dome and the actual tomb inside is surrounded by a silver platform.  

Adhai-Din-Ka Jhonpara: A visit to this mosque will reflect to you a fine example of Indo-Islamic architecture. It was used as a Sanskrit college in the 12th century. Later Mohammad Ghori destroyed the college and in its place built a mosque. He built the mosque on pillars where no two pillars are alike.

The Museum: The Museum was once The Royal Palace of Akbar. The museum houses a rich collection of Mughal and Rajput armory. The Museum was built of red sandstone. The blocks of sandstone was places in a square pattern which gives an amazing look.

Ana Sagar Lake: This beautiful lake was built during 1135-1150 AD by Anaji. However there were additional constructions added by the Mughal emperors.

Taragarh Fort: This fort was built by Ajaipal Chauhan in the 7th century. From the top of the Fort you can enjoy a bird’s eye view of the entire city. The fort is also known as the ' Star fort ' as it is situated on top of a hill. You have to reach the fort on a winding bridle path.

Shah Jahan's Mosque: This is one of the most beautiful constructions in the country. The mosque is made of white marble which are very delicately carved and structured as well as placed.

The best time to take a tour to Ajmer is during the monsoons. This season starts from August and stays till October. Monsoon is the best time to take a tour to Ajmer because the rainfall is quite less and the weather becomes very pleasant.
