Introduction to Sawai Bhoj Temple, Bhilwara
Bhilwara is the head office for the administration of Bhilwara region and is a very small town situated in the Mewar Region of desolate tract of Rajasthan. Its remoteness from the capital city, Delhi is approximately 600 km. According to a myth, Bhilwara got its name from the tribal group of Bhils who inhabited themselves here for long time. But some mythological stories accentuate on another point that Bhilwara got its name from the Bhiladi Mint located in the city. The Sawai Bhoj Temple is highly looked upon by several devotees as this region alleged to be more than 400 years old and is the icon of communal accord.

As per the evidences found in the history, Bhilwara Sawai Bhoj Temple was erected to memorialize the forfeit of the Gurjar youth namely Sawai Bhoj. He fell in love with the wife of the Raja of Bhenai called Jaimati. As an aftermath to this, he along with entire famiy members was brutally killed in a combat with dauntless Rajput warriors.
