The electrifying city of Udaipur has a very attention grabbling milieu as it was under the reign of Sisodia dynasty for around 1200 years. Historically, it is mentioned that under the supremacy of Mewar kingdom, this dazzling city was at its zenith and has a very stimulating story related to its establishment. The heroic Maharana Udai Singh ji is the pioneer of this city and was once on his hunting exploration striked on a holy man. The sacred man was mulled over on a mount that peeped over the bubbling Lake Pichhola. He blessed him and advised him to construct a vivacious palace where thriving valley wrapped by a lake, stream, a delightful height and a meadow of low mountains reposed the surrounds. He followed the advice of that holy man and founded the awe-inspiring Udaipur city in 1559. Therefore, the Mewar Festival, Udaipur holds a special position and tempts copious of buccaneers globally.
The festival is observed to give a heartiest welcome to the lovely spring season and follows the same pattern of celebration as Gangaur festival. However Udaipur’s Mewar Festival is expressed with full glee and has both cultural and religious significance. During this festival, the womenfolk attire themselves in gaudy dresses and accumulate at one common point and also embellish the figurines of Isar and Gangaur aesthetically which afterwards are kept for a ceremonial procession. This attractive procession takes several routes of the Udaipur city and aheads towards the Gangaur Ghat at picturesque Lake Pichhola where these statues are placed onto special boats.
Nonetheless, flocked people engross themselves in singing religious songs, dances and other cultural activities that take over. However, the festivities of the Mewar Festival in Rajasthan come to an end with the flamboyant revelation of fireworks.
