He was applauded for his teachings related to the path of truth and Ahimsa (non-violence) even by the Britishers. He also initiated Satyagraha movement ad was the personification of a typical Swadeshi individual. Therefore, he set a lasting instance for his countrymen that freedom can be obtained through the path of non-violence. So, Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated to commemorate the gallantry deeds of heroic Mahatma Gandhi on 02nd October every year.
