Climate Conditions in Leh and Ladakh


On the whole, the state of Jammu and Kashmir has a rich culture and favorable climatic conditions. The place is entirely charismatic and has various elements to discuss. All the elements have distinct features. It is covered by most of the tourists to experience the real paradise on earth. People here in Jammu live in the lap of mother nature and enjoy the real essence of its beauty. Very few people know that the Aryans were the first people who visited India and rooted their ground in Jammu and Kashmir.

Leh and Ladakh zone is the most intresting zone famous for its Tibetan tract of Ladakh and Kargil. This place is mostly discovered by the lure travelers. The climatic condition of Leh Ladakh is very cold as it lies in the greater Himalayas. But astonishingly, this place has enough climatic conditions which will make the traveler flabbergasted. Ladakh is positioned at an height of 3521m above sea level. Due to this it does not get much of rainfall and remain arid throughout the year. Annual rainfall is about 4 inches. Climatic conditions differ as the Arctic cold but no snow, atmospheric temperature is very high. The nights are chilly and the days are equally hot. On the other end, winters are awfully cold and summers are heated up.

Being situated on greater Himalayas, it affects the Indian monsoons. Moreover it is surrounded by some highest peaks in the world. The area is covered by lofty peaks. Climate in Leh Ladakh is much better than the mountaineers and the locals. The sun stretches and heats up the day whereas the nights are completely chilled out. In summers an average temperature ranges from 3 degree C to 30 degree C whereas winter temperature ranges from 20 degree C to 15 degree C.

Nevertheless, the entire region of Leh and Ladakh is covered with white snow .Snow starts falling on the mountain area from the end of September and goes till the end of June.
