Day 04: Mhahabalipuram – Thirupathy
Destinations Covered: Chennai- Mahabalipuram – Kanchipuram- Thirupathy - Trichy – Tanjore- Madurai – Rameswaram- Kannyakumari – Trivandrum- Kovalam- Kumarakom – Munnar- Cochin
Day 01: Chennai
The temple tour to south India begins with the arrival at Chennai the capital of Tamil Nadu. It is also known as land of temples. It is one of the famous cosmopolitan cities of India that has still preserved its ancient charm. On arrival check in the pre booked hotel. Enjoy the rest of the time at leisure. Dinner and over night stay at Chennai Hotel.
Day 02: Chennai – Mahabalipuram
After Breakfast enjoy the sight seeing tour of Chennai which attracts huge crowds during Vaikuntha Ekadasi. Tiruvallikkeni is considered equivalent to Tirupati. Experience its traditions, festivals and ambience. Visit Santhome Cathedral, St. George Fort, Marina Beach, Kalakshertra on the same day. Later drive to Mahabalipuram. Check in to the hotel. Over night stay at beach resort.
Day 03: Mahabalipuram - Kanchipuram – Mahabalipuram
After Break fast, drive to Mahabalipuram. Built in the 7th century, this ancient Pallava port is the site of several antique sculptural marvels. The only remaining shore temple is a spectacular two-spire shrine which is unique in that it buses shrines for Vishnu and Shiva. The Pallavas had perfected the art of sculpting rocks to build temples without using brick, mortar or timber. The five monolith Raths (chariots) stand as the surviving masterpieces of Pallava sculpture. Also visit Arjuna's, Kanchipuram in this day. Drive Back to Mahabalipuram, Over Night at Hotel.
After Break fast, drive to Thrupathy via Srikalahasthy. Kalahasti, the main Lingam has a pedestal and is in the shape of the trunk of an elephant with tusks on either side or a figure of the spider at the bottom. After noon visit the temple of Sri Venkateswara Temple. Over Night at Hotel
Day 05: Thrupathy – Chennai
After the early morning dharshan get the breakfast at hotel. Later drive to Chennai. Take evening train to Trichy. Over night stay at train.
Day 06: Trichy
Next destination of Temple Tours to South India is Trichy or Trichinapally which is situated on the bank of river Cauvery. On arrival Check in to the hotel and later visit of Trichy, then move to Srirangam, Ranganathar
Day 07: Trichy – Tanjore
Drive towards Tanjore which is renowned for its temple. The city of Tanjore has very well preserved and maintains the glorious Chola architecture. Visit its famous temple and later check in the hotel for dinner and over night stay.
Day 08: Tanjore – Madurai
More than 2,500 years old ancient city, situated on the banks of the river Vaigai, Madurai is believed to have been built by the Pandyan King Kulasekara. On Arrival, check in to the hotel. In the afternoon visit Tirumalai Nayak Mahal. This Indo-Saracenic building was constructed in 1523 and was originally four times large are today. Sound and light show on the life of the Tirumalai Nayak and the story of the Silapathikaram are conduced daily. Dinner and over night stay at Madurai Hotel.
Day 09: Madurai – Rameswaram – Madurai
After breakfast drive to Rameswaram, the next most famous pilgrimage destination of Temple Tour of South India. It is one of the most sacred towns of India, it is well known for its temple corridor-the longest in India, the Bathing Ghat, Kothanda Ramar Temple and other nearby islands-abundant with coral reefs and other marine animals.
Day 10: Madurai – Kannyakumari
After Breakfast, Drive to Kannyakumari named after the Goddess Kannyakumari Amman who is the popular deity of the area. Kannyakumari is the one of the sacred place for Hindu religion. This is the place where three oceans joined together. On the way to Kannyakumari, visit suchendra, Padmanapapuram palace etc. Visit the Vivekanda Rock which is situated in the middle of the sea. Watch the spectacular sunset, Over Night at resort.
Day 11: Kannyakumari – Trivandrum
After watching the spectacular sunrise, break fast at hotel, Visit to the Vivekananda rock. On the way visit of the Suchendra Temple, Padmanapapuram place. Over night stay at Trivandrum.
Day 12: Trivandrum – Kovalam
After breakfast enjoy the drive to Kovalam which is among the most scenic spots of Kerala. Check in the beach resort and after some rest enjoy the beach site activities at Kovalam Beach. Over night stay at Kovalam.
Day 13: Kovalam – Kumarakom
After Break fast, drive to Kumarakom. Kumarakom is a back water Village hidden among the palm trees on the eastern shore of Lake Vembanad, at the mouth of the Kavanar River give visitors an authentic insight into Kutanad life. Day 14: Kumarakom – Munnar
After Breakfast, Drive to Munnar, one the most beautiful hill station of Kerala where the tea plantations spread like a green carpet on Earth The town is situated at the confluence of the three mountain streams and is one of the most sought after tourist destination for Kerala. On arrival, check in at the resort. Enjoy rest of the day at leisure. Over night stay at Resort.
Day 15: Munnar
After morning go for a sightseeing tour of Munnar that includes Mattupetty dam and lake, Rajamala, the natural habitat of Nilgiri Tahr, a rare mountain goat and the Eravikulam National Park. After noon relax. Over night stay at Resort.
Day 16: Munnar – Cochin
Drive to Cochin one of the most interesting towns in South India. A trading port since Roman times, it was on the main trade route between Europe and China. On arrival, check in the hotel for dinner and sight seeing tour.
Day 17: Departure
After Break fast, Transfer to Cochin International Airport at the time to catch a flight for home.
