History of Tibet

The history of Tibet dates back to the Palaeolithic Age, which is thought to be the opening curtain of Tibet history. People were present in Tibet by the end of the Palaeolithic Age. By the time of the Neolithic Age, the populace of Tibet had spread widely. This has resulted in the present Tibetan race. The glorious past of Tibet is the reason for the rich culture of the country today.

Talking about Tibet past, during the 7th century, there was a renowned king of Tibet named Songtsen Gampo. He united the people of Tibet and this led to the establishment of the Tubo Dynasty. The history of Tibet witnessed some of the famous events like two Tibetan kings were married to the princesses of Tang Dynasty in the 7th and 8th century respectively.

Tibetan history boasts of the rise and fall of many dynasties. In the middle of the 13th century, Yuan Dynasty took over Tibet and the central administration gave the powers to Sakya. The reason behind this was the overlordship of Tibet. After some years, the rule of Sakya over Tibet stumbled. Then came the Panda Dynasty under the rule of the Kagyupa sect.

Tibet history has more to offer. Towards the end of the Ming Dynasty and the start of the Qing Dynasty, the fifth Dalai Lama became the ruler of Tibet. This happened with the aid of Gorshi Khan, a Mongolian Prince. Dalai Lama formed the Ganden Podrang administration region.
