The Vishnupada Temple is a beautiful temple located in Gaya, Bihar. This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The Vishnupada Temple is located on the banks of Falgu River. According to Hindu mythology, this temple is marked by a footprint of Vishnu carved into a wedge of basalt.
The temple that stands today was rebuilt by Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar in te 18th century. He was the then ruler of Indore. The gold flag and the couple of Kalash, both of gold use to gliter and thus it attract many tourists to admire the temple. It was also believed that two thieves tried to steel the golden flag and Kalash. In trying to do so, they were converted into stones. Devotees coming to witness this holy temple can witness these two blocks of stones.
