Tea tourism in India is as popular as the wine tourism in France or Germany. Tea in India is specifically meant for certain places. The three prominent tea-growing areas of India are Darjeeling, Assam and Nilgiri. Darjeeling and Assam are in the Northeast regions whereas Nilgiri is located in the Southern part of India.
Tea production Procedure in India:
Indian Tea production follows a particular series of processes and procedures. Tea production method comprise of several stages as the tender plucked leaves make their expedition from the bush to the cup. Plucking of tea leaves is the starting tip of tea production, which comes under several processes to produce the ultimate tea.
The ever-popular black tea can be categorized into two different ways of production:
1) Orthodox production
2) CTC production.
The orthodox production needs 5 stages in making which starts from withering, rolling, fermentation, drying, and sorting. The CTC production method is a process of crushing, tearing and curling. CTC teas are generally used in teabag production. The quality of the tea produced is largely based on the factors as soil, rainfall, wind and the plucking method used.
The oxidation Process:
The oxidization process is mainly used in the production of black tea. These require a unique process of production in the making of green tea. In this process the tea leaves are first pan dried or steamed before being rolled.
