Introduction about Valliyoorkavu Festival : The Valliyoorkavu Festival is held in the Wayanad district on the Wayanad Hills at the Valliyoorkavu Temple. The festival is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathy and considered to be one of the most sacred festivals in Kerala. There are hundreds of tribesmen in the district who celebrate this festival with great joy and delight.
Description: The Valliyoorkavu festival is dedicated to the Goddess Bhagavathy. It is believed that the idol of the temple is self manifested and to worship this Goddess Bhagavathy, an annual festival is held here every year.
The traditional ritual Kalamezhuthu is performed during all nights of the festival. During the final day one can get the glimpses of different folk art forms of Kerala. The tribes use native percussion instruments, which are one of the major attractions of the place.
Time for celebration: This is an annual 14 day event which takes place during the month of March.
