Introduction about Trillannad Siva Temple: The Trikkannad Siva Temple is located on the shore of the Arabian Sea. It is situated at a radius of 1 km from the renowned Bekal Bridge. This temple is also known as Dakshina Kashi. The location of this temple is unique and it is believed that all the appeals are granted here by the Almighty.
Description: Once a Pandyan ruler tried to attack the Shiva temple then the presiding deity burn his ship and turned him into a rock. On this rock the famous Trikkannad Siva Temple is located. As the name suggests Lord Shiva is the principle deity of the Trikkanad Temple. He is known by various names like Nilkantha, Bhairava or Bholanath in other parts of the country. The festival at Trikkannad Siva Temple continues for one week and has a number of cultural programs. These include Flag Hosting, Ashtami Vikallu and Pallivatta. The peculiar feature of this temple is that it faces the west. Thousands of devotees come here to see this wonderful festival. The rope used for the purpose of Dhwajarohanam is similar to the rope used at the other temples located a few km from this temple.
Time for celebration: Every year during March-April celebration takes place at Trikkannad Siva Temple.
