Introduction about Sarvajanika Ganeshotsavam: The Sarvajanika Ganeshotsavam is celebrated in the Kasargod Town in the state of Kerala. The coast stretches from Kasargod to Gokarna on the western coast, which is popular for its stunning natural beauty and exclusive ethnicity. The residents of this coast are ardent devotees of Lord Ganesha and hence, a series of temples dedicated to Lord Ganesha have been built along the coastline. The 'Ganesha Coast', as called by the people, is also known as the Parashurama Kshetra, which means, that the place is reformed by Lord Parashurama from the sea. According to the legends, it is believed e that Lord Ganesha protects this coast from all natural disasters.
Description: The Sarvajanika Ganeshotsavam is celebrated in connection with Ganesh Chathurthi by the local people, and it is held under the banner of Sarvajanika Ganeshotsava Samithi of Kasargod. During this festival a huge statue of Lord Ganesha is made with clay and decorated with various ornaments. Pujas and rituals are conducted for 5 to 7 days with huge offerings to Lord Ganesha. On the last day of the Sarvajanika Ganeshotsavam, the idol of Lord Ganesha is taken with a procession through the town of Kasargod and immersed in the tank of the Temple. The festival attracts thousands of devotees from all over the country. In the Kasargod Town, Ganesh Chathurthi has been declared as a public holiday.
