Introduction about Malayattoor Perunnal : Malayattoor Perunnal festival is another form of Theyyam festivals held in Kerala. Malayattoor Perunnal festival is regarded as a church festival which is held at the Mallayyattoor church in Kerala.
Description: The first Sunday after Easter is a very important day at Malayattoor Pilgrims, chanting the name of the Apostle, ‘Ponninkurisumala Muthappa’, climb Kurisumudi, the steep hill to visit the holy shrine. The Church has a life-size statue of St. Thomas and the footsteps of the Apostle on a rock. Malayattoor Church is one of the major churches built by St. Thomas and they argue that the churches at Kokomanagalam and Paravur must be regarded as one.
Time for celebration: Malayattoor Perunnal festival is held around the time of the summer season. It is seen that the tentative date is in August, which ritualistically held after the Easter.
