Introduction to Kalpathi Ratholsavam: Celebrated in the month of January on 13 and 14 every year, it is a muslim festival. The Kanjiramattom mosque celebrates the Kodikuthu festival with great fun and fervor.
Description: The annual festival Kalpathi Ratholsavam or the chariot festival is a great event in the region of Pallakad in Kerala. Dedicated to Lord Shiva the festival is regarded as one of the most remarkable festivals of Kerala. The place of Kalpathi is the venue of this festival. It is also famed as Dakshin Kasi or the Varanasi of the South, where the Sree Viswanatha Swamy temple is situated. The temple is surrounded by thousands of believers who enjoy the Vedic recitals and cultural programs for the first four days. The rituals are believed to be around 700 years old, reflecting the serenity of the festival. The last three days are exciting with the chariots on the streets and thousands gathered to draw the decorated chariot and be a part of the mega event.
