Vijnana Kala Vedi Cultural Centre, Aranmula-Kerala
The concept of Vijnana Kala Vedi Cultural Centre, Aranmula, emerged from the mind of French artist Ms. Louba Schild who was deeply inclined towards the beauty and expression of ancient art forms of Kerala. With an objective to preserve these ancient art forms she established Vijnana Kala Vedi Centre in 1977 which was officially registered as a charitable organization under the Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Society Act of 1955 with the aims of :
Preserving the traditional arts and crafts of Kerala in their true spiritual context
Fostering artistic education to the young generation
Providing opportunities to foreign artists, erudite and culturally inclined people to get acquainted with the culture and art of India, particularly of Kerala.
At the centre people can select from 18 different subjects ranging from music, dance, theatre, crafts languages like Sanskrit, Hindi, Malyalam, yoga, martial arts, and even cooking. A Centre for Traditional Architecture frescos, mural and Painting has been established as a part of its success saga, which came to be known as Vastu Vidya Gurukulam. The credit for setting up this wonderful institution goes to the Kerala Government. Here students can get accommodation and vegetarian food provided by the centre. The beautiful backdrop of the village adds to the charm of the centre.
