Shivpuri is a fascinating city which is located in the Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh. It is located in the northwestern part of Madhya Pradesh. Shivpuri is located in the Gwalior Division. The climate in Shivpuri always remains cool and dry. In the summer season, the temperature reaches to a maximum of 42˚ C. But, by the end of June the monsoon prevails and the weather of the place becomes cool. This place receives plenty of rainfall from the Arabian Sea. It receives an average rainfall of 875 mm throughout the year.

Shivpuri is located in the Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh. This place is situated in the north-western part of Madhya Pradesh. The National Highway No.-3 run through this place. It is 113 Km from Gwalior and 98 Km from Guna. It is located 486 metres above the sea level. Shivpuri had been the prime choice as the summer resort capital of the Scindias.
HISTORY AND LEGENDS
Shivpuri is an ancient town and a sacred place. The place got its name after the mighty Hindu God, Lord Shiva. In the past, the place was covered with dense forests. This place was the favorite hunting grounds of the Mugal Emperor. The Great King, Akbar captured herds of elephants from this place. The place came under Scindias rule in the year 1804. Also, Tantya Tope was hanged to death in Shivpuri by the Britishers for his part in the revolt of 1857.
