The Dhankar Monastery is a beautiful monastery, which is situated 24 km from the town of Kera. It stands at a height of 12,774 feet above the sea level. Dhankar means 'a place in the mountains, which is unreachable for strangers'. The Dhankar Monastery in Himachal Pradesh is believed to be erected in the 16th century.
The Dhankar Monastery is an old monastery with a complex comprising of multi-storeyed buildings perched together. There are five different halls inside this monastery. You can also witness a huge silver image of Vajradhara that is kept inside a glass. This statue of Dhayan Buddha with four figures seated back to back is the main highlight of the monastery. The Buddhist scriptures in Bhoti language is also a cause of attraction of many tourists from the entire globe.
