Chunargarh Fort Varanasi

The Chunargarh Fort in Uttar Pradesh is located to a distance of 35km to the south-west of Varanasi. Tourists can find the Ashoka’s inscription on the pillars of the fort. This inscription depicts the social and political situation of the place that dates back to 3rd century B.C. In 56 B.C, Maharaja Vikramaditya, the king of Ujjain established the Chunargarh fort.

The Chunargarh fort is famous for its magnificent fusion of architecture. There are large deep wells that served as the source of water to the fort. The west part of the fort gives a splendid view of the Gangas.
