The Imambara is a prominent monument that is situated in old Lucknow near Chowk, close to Chota Imambara. It represents the historical and cultural heritage of India. The complex of Bara Imambara also includes a large mosque, the Bhul-Bhulayah (the labyrinth) and a summer palace with running water.
This monument reflects the architecture era when the Mughal design was on its summit. In this monument neither iron nor spires are incorporated. The hall inside the Bara Imambara is 170 feet long and 55 feet wide. This hall erects to a height of 50 feet from the ground. It is the largest arched monument constructions of its kind in the world.
Eight chambers that are built to different roof heights surround the Bara Imambara. It is an ideal place to visit in India.
