Sikandara, 13 kms from Agra is the last abode of Mughal Emperor Akbar. Akbar’s Tomb is an excellent example of incorporation of diverse styles of architecture and it represents an important exodus from the earlier Mughal building. Akbar himself started building the edifice at Sikandara that was later finished by his son Jehangir.
Akbar’s tomb situates in a large walled garden on the Delhi-Agra road. This momentous gateway is wrapped with floral and geometrical decoration in white and colored marble. Akbar’s tomb is different from different from other Mughal Tomb in many ways and also the most beautiful amongst all. The grave of Akbar is laid in the Basement of Akbar’s Tomb. The tomb carries the distinguishing aroma of the airy tiered pavilions of Agra fort and Fatehpur Sikri. Never miss any opportunity to witness this magnificent tomb in Uttar Pradesh during India tour.
