The Elephant Polo of Nepal begins in early December in the Chitwan National Park in Nepal. The event is organized by the World Elephant Polo Association. The Association holds the WEPA tournament annually at the airfield on the grounds of Meghauli that lies on the park's northern boundary.
During the Elephant Polo Tournament in Nepal, there are four elephants each side prompted by four mahouts. Behind them, the players are perched with a mallet in hand. The ball that is used is the standard polo ball. According to the rule, the players are supposed to hit the other side's goal line. There are two 10-minute chukkers. These are separated by a 15-minute break. After the break, the teams change sides.
Nepal Elephant Polo is one of the best tourist attractions in Nepal and a must see event for every tourist visiting the country in December.
