Pune

puneThe city, Pune got its name from Punya Nagari. Pune is the eighth largest urban city fourth largest city of Maharastra. It is the second largest city in the state of Maharashtra. It is located roughly at a distance of 150 Km to the east of the Western Ghats on the Deccan Plateau. It is situated at an altitude of 560 metres above the sea level. Pune is more popularly known as the “Queen of Deccan”. Some descriptions on the city Pune is given below.

Location :

Climate : The climate of temperature is all in all remains fine throughout the year. In the summers, the temperature reaches to a maximum and ranges from 30º C to 38º C. With the arrival of monsoon from the Arabian Sea in the month of June, the place gets cool with heavy downpour. The temperature drops below 6º C in the winter.

Bund Garden : This is a fascinating garden that lies on the bank of the Mula Mutha River. It is now popularly known as the Mahatma Gandhi Udyan. Here you can enjoy boating.

The Osho International Commune : It is in Koregaon Park where thousands of foreigners come to take part in the meditation courses organized by the Ashram. It has founded by Osho Rajneesh and samadhi is located in the Ashram.

Shindyanchi Chhatri : It is a temple adorned with Rajasthani architecture where you can witness the memories of the great warrior, Mahadji Shinde.

Pataleshwar Cave Temples : This cave temple is at Shivaji Nagar. Here you can witness massive single rock, huge pillars, a Shiva shrine and Nandi bull.

Chaturshrungi Temple : It is magnificent temple of goddesses that is situated on a hillock off Senapati Bapat Road.

By Air : The Pune airport is located 12 Km from the centre of the city. It is connected to all major cities of India.
By Train : The regular trains named Deccan Queen, Deccan Express, Indrayani, and Shatabdi runs from Mumbai to Pune everyday.
By Road : The excellent roadways connect the city to the other major cities of Maharashtra. Regular private and MSRTC buses ply to Pune.
