The city, Pune got its name from Punya Nagari. Pune is the eighth largest urban city fourth largest city of Maharastra. It is the second largest city in the state of Maharashtra. It is located roughly at a distance of 150 Km to the east of the Western Ghats on the Deccan Plateau. It is situated at an altitude of 560 metres above the sea level.
