Nagpur

NagpurNagpur is the second largest capital of Maharashtra. It was founded by the Gond King of Deogad in the year 1702. The river Nag flows through this land and hence the place got its name as Nagpur. Once, Nagpur was the capital of the central province. Location : The Nagpur city is a major city of India and it lies on the Deccan plateau of Indian Peninsula.

Climate : As the city, Nagpur is far away from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea, so the climate of the place remains dry and humid almost throughout the year. Monsoon hits the place during the months of June to September. Summer starts from March to June when the temperature to a maximum of 47º C. From the month of November winter stars and last upto the month of January. In winters, sometimes the temperature touches below 10º C.

Seminary Hill: This beautiful hill is named after the Seminary of St. Charles. You can witness old city giving a captivating panoramic view of the city.

Sitabuldi Fort : This fort is nestled between the two mountains. This fort was built by a British officer in 1857.

Sri Poddareshwar Ram Mandir : This fascinating temple was built of marble and sandstone carving work in 1923. It is a major centre of attraction to the tourists for the deities, since time immortal.

Reaching There :
By Air : The nearest airport to Nagpur is the Sonegaon airport. It is located 8 kms to the south of Nagpur city. This airport connects the city to other major cities Mumbai, Calcutta, Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune, Bhubaneswar, and Raipur.
By Train : Nagpur railway station is an important rail junction on the Central and Southeastern lines.
By Road : The broad and well maintained National Highway connects Nagpur to all other major cities in India.
